WHY DIVE IN EGYPT?

There is no article about the best places in the world to go diving complete without mentioning the Red Sea and every year as they do these top ten rankings Egypt is always one of the ten. Which bit of the Red Sea? Well – all of it, obviously. Highlights most definitely include Ras Mohamed and Tiran (Sharm El Sheikh), St Johns, Daedelus, Elphinstone and the Brothers (mostly from Hurghada or Port Ghalib) but don’t forget Dahab’s (in)famous Blue Hole, or Aqaba’s wreck of the Cedar Pride, not to mention some of the best and most accessible wrecks in the world – the Giannis D, Carnatic, Dunraven and, of course, the SS Thistlegorm. From brightly colored nudibranchs and long-nosed hawkfish to oceanic whitetips, hammerheads and whale sharks; novice to technical expert, the Red Sea has something for everybody and for a very affordable price.

On top of that the climate offers great options to travel year round to Egypt. Great weather, warm waters, over 11 hours of sun a day, mild currents in the sea and the ever lasting stunning blue skies…

WHAT ANIMALS CAN YOU SEE WHEN?

There are about 11 species of fish, including 44 species of sharks and 200 species of corals in Egypts Red Sea. All animals respond to their surroundings and move around depending on water temperature, current, other species, daylight, etcetera. The sea is not a zoo! And that makes it sometimes difficult to meet some species as you need a certain amount of luck. However there are months where chances to meet some of the special species are a bit bigger.

Hiding in the sand, trying to blend into the sand and hoping not to get spotted. Not only a strategy to surprise their food but also a defense against predators.
